Salary Details
Positions fall under different levels of the pay matrix in the state government rules:
- Level 20 (approx. ₹37,700 - ₹1,38,500 base scale): Assistant Geologist, Assistant Engineer, Agriculture Officer, Horticultural Officer, Assistant Director, Junior Architect, Assistant Manager.
- Level 19: Assistant Accounts Officer
- Level 18: Research Assistant
- Level 17: Junior Scientific Officer, Assistant Superintendent, Assistant Engineer (Civil - SIPCOT)
- Level 16: System Manager, Translator
- Level 15: Librarian
- Level 13: Statistical Assistant, Deputy Manager (Dairying)
- Level 12: Assistant Engineer (Mechanical - Magnesites)
- Level 11: Assistant Archaeological Officer, Assistant Tourist Officer
- Level 10: Assistant Statistical Investigator, Block Health Statistician
- Level 9: Junior Photographer

Age Limit
Candidates must have completed 21 years of age as on 01.07.2026.
Maximum Age Limit (For 'Others' / Unreserved Category):
- Most Technical/Engineering Posts: 32 years
- Junior Photographer: 42 years
- Assistant Engineer (Industries): 37 years
- System Manager: 35 years
- Junior Scientific Officer, Assistant Accounts Officer, Assistant Engineer (Civil - SIPCOT), Assistant Geologist (Water Resources): 50 years
Maximum Age Limit (For SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BC(OBCM)s, and BCMs):
- No Maximum Age Limit for the majority of the posts (up to 60 years at the time of selection), with minor exceptions for specific corporation/board posts.
Qualification Criteria
Candidates must possess adequate knowledge of Tamil on the date of notification.
Educational Qualifications (Post-Specific Summary):
- Assistant Engineer (Civil/Electrical/Mechanical): B.E. / B.Tech in the relevant discipline.
- Assistant Engineer (Agricultural Engineering): B.E. (Agriculture) / B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering) or alternative relevant engineering disciplines if agricultural candidates are not available.
- Agriculture Officer (Extension) / Horticultural Officer: Bachelor's degree in Agriculture (B.Sc. Agriculture) / Horticulture (B.Sc. Horticulture) respectively.
- Assistant Geologist: M.Sc. degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Hydrogeology.
- Drug Inspector: Degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Medicine with specialization in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology.
- Block Health Statistician / Assistant Statistical Investigator: Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics.
- Junior Architect: Degree in Architecture with valid Council of Architecture registration.
- System Manager / Assistant Manager (IT): B.E./B.Tech in CSE/IT/ECE/EEE or MCA or M.Sc. CS/IT.
Application Fee
One Time Registration (OTR) Fee: ₹150 (Valid for 5 years)
Examination Fee: ₹100 per subject paper opted.
Fee Exemptions & Concessions:
- Scheduled Castes (SC/SCA) & Scheduled Tribes (ST): Full Exemption
- Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) & Destitute Widows: Full Exemption
- Most Backward Classes (MBC/DC) & Backward Classes (BC/BCM): 3 Free Chances
- Ex-Servicemen: 2 Free Chances
Additional Details
- Selection Procedure: Single-stage Written Examination (consisting of Paper I and Paper II), followed by Onscreen Certificate Verification, Physical Certificate Verification, and Counselling.
- Paper I Structure: Part A covers the Tamil Eligibility Test (100 questions, 150 marks, minimum 40% / 60 marks required to qualify). Part B covers General Studies (75 questions) and Part C covers Aptitude and Mental Ability (25 questions).
- Paper II Structure: Subject Paper featuring 200 questions (300 marks) mapped to the specific degree/technical standard of the chosen post.
- Examination Centers: Conducted across 38 specific district venues in Tamil Nadu.
- Banned Items: Calculators, books, logs, mobile phones, smartwatches, or any electronic communication and storage devices are strictly prohibited in the exam hall.
